GREYHEART TRANSYLVANIAN CATTERY

CREMONA PET FESTIVAL

October 19-20, 2024

On a gloomy October weekend, October 19-20, 2024, we had the pleasure of attending the prestigious Cremona Pet Festival in one of Italy’s most beautiful and culturally rich cities, Cremona. Located in Northern Italy’s Lombardy region, Cremona is renowned for its rich history and its deep-rooted artistic and cultural traditions. It is especially famous for its violin-making heritage, being home to legendary craftsmen such as Antonio Stradivari and Guarneri. The city still preserves this tradition and is home to the world-renowned Museo del Violino, where visitors can marvel at the historic masters’ violins and explore the intricate craft of violin-making. In addition, the heart of Cremona features the stunning Cattedrale di Cremona, one of the finest examples of Lombard Romanesque architecture, alongside the imposing Torrazzo Tower, which, standing at 112 meters, is Italy’s tallest brick bell tower.

Cremona annually hosts the Pet Festival, which serves as a common platform for pet owners, breeders, animal enthusiasts, and professionals from the pet healthcare and grooming industries. The event showcases the latest products and services for pets, with a variety of competitions, demonstrations, and interactive programs that add vibrancy to the festival.

A highlight of the event was the WCF World Show, organized by the Serenissima Cat Club. Shows recognized by the World Cat Federation (WCF) offer breeders an exceptional opportunity to showcase their cats and gain international recognition. At this event, we proudly represented our cattery by presenting our two third-generation Transylvanian cats, Dieter GreyHeart and Klaus GreyHeart. This was an especially exciting moment for us, as the Transylvanian cat breed is nearing official recognition. During the show, judges evaluated our cats based on the WCF breed standard through a process known as table judging, where both received excellent reviews. The judges were particularly impressed with the temperament of our cats, a crucial aspect of the Transylvanian breed. These cats are human-centered, friendly, and show trust toward strangers. However, when playing, their hunting instinct surfaces instantly, and they respond with lightning speed to a feathered toy. It is captivating to witness how their eyes gleam with the thrill of the chase, and in a flash, they skillfully capture their prey. Both of our cats received the ex1 rating, indicating that they are suitable for breeding and meet the WCF standards.

At the event, we had the pleasure of meeting Fabiano Frioni, the owner of Oblivion Transylvanian Cattery and the Swiss representative of the Transylvanian breeding program. He brought three Transylvanian cats to the show, including the renowned Mr. Coral Master Pablo GreyHeart. This encounter was a personal and professional delight for us, as Pablo GreyHeart is one of the proud members of our GreyHeart litter. It was wonderful to see how beautifully he has developed and to witness his excellent condition.

The event was a great success for us, and we were thrilled by the visitors’ interest in our cats. We received numerous positive comments on the breed’s appearance, and people were particularly captivated by their unique temperament, which is a top priority in our breeding efforts. The fact that the judges emphasized the human-centered nature and calmness of our cats reassured us that we are on the right path in preserving and further developing the character of the Transylvanian breed.

We send our warm regards to everyone we met at the event and to those who expressed interest in our cats. We look forward to the next meeting and eagerly anticipate the bright future of the Transylvanian breed!
